Fiberpipe awarded R7.2mil contract for Fairbridge Project in Zimbabwe
Fiberpipe has been awarded a contract to supply the new 7000m Sewer line for Delta Corporation in Bulawayo Zimbabwe to the value of R7.2 mil. Delta Corporation Limited is principally an integrated beverage company with a diverse portfolio of local and international brands in lager beer, traditional beer, Coca-Cola, franchised sparkling and alternative non-alcoholic beverages. It has investments in associate companies whose activities are in cordials and juice drinks, wines and spirits.
The Fairbridge Project Sewer line will run from the Chibuku Brewery to the trunk Sewer line in Bulawayo and will be owned by Bulawayo City in Zimbabwe. Expansion is underway on the Chibuku plant as the Delta Corporation group moves to keep pace with growing demand.
An Engineer from Delta Corporation, Mr Kudakwashe Gwery visited our Factory in Germiston. His two day factory visit not only afforded Mr Gwery the opportunity to see their 7km of DN 400, PN 12, SN 5000 pipes being manufactured, but also gave unique insight and knowledge into the manufacturing and quality management processes implemented by Fiberpipe. These processes ensure that each pipe that leaves the factory is of the best quality and SABS approved. After visiting Fiberpipe and seeing the activities involved in the production, quality and Hydrotesting of FLOWTITE pipes Mr. Gwery stated that: “FLOWTITE is a high quality and reliable product suitable for the use in sewer application and I am excited to be associated with and to be using GRP”
FLOWTITE GRP was the pipe of choice for the Fairbridge Project due to the low maintenance of the pipe, the non-corrosive qualities and the ease of installation. And coupled with recommendations from Bulawayo City Council on the high value of service received from Fiberpipe’s Sales and Field Services.
Production on the Fairbridge pipeline started in the second week of July 2015 with 3.5km of pipe being manufactured in that first week. The completion of the next 3.5kms as well as the delivery of pipes on site will be finalised by the first week in August 2015. The short lead time is possible because of the fast production and delivery processes implemented by Fiberpipe. Delta Corporation will receive the first load of pipes in the 3rd week of July 2015 at which point they will commence with the digging of trenches as well as laying the pipes. Completion is expected in August 2015.
Fiberpipe has been gaining ground in the Zimbabwean market after 4 years of consistently pursuing GRP usage in Zimbabwe. Mr. Dominic Sikuka, Africa General Manager at Fiberpipe, and Hazen Engineering has been working closely with Government, Private Sector, Water Boards, Municipalities, Mining and Agricultural sectors in the country to realise Fiberpipe’s goals. Sikuka says: “Private Sector has now seen the need and benefit of using FLOWTITE GRP as a result of 4 years hard work and we are expecting lots of growth in this market.”
